Sunset at the Spoke Club

#Events, #Ritz
By Wendy A. Joseph

This Apérochic event was held at The Spoke Club beginning at 6:30pm. In the Heart of Toronto’s bustling King West strip, discreetly nestled in one of the city’s distinguished hundred-year-old buildings stands The Spoke Club. Beyond its humble bricks-and-mortar heritage, it has evolved into a thriving meeting place where individuals with interests in media, entertainment, the Arts and those hosting social events can converge. The event was held at the North Rooftop which resembles more of a garden than a patio, the North Rooftop acts as a social refuge offering great food, refreshing cocktails, good music and the occasional live performance.

As each guest arrived they were ushered to the rooftop and given a Lillet wine cocktail. They were greeted by Elyza, the Brand Ambassador for Lillet wines, who took a short survey of volunteers, to get feedback on how they liked the wine. As a thank you for answering the short survey, each person was given a take away gift of a fan, blanket or cell phone case with the Lillet wine company logo.

Old and new members alike gather around the bar and seating area, sipping cocktails and conversing with each other. One new member Mary-Louise from Australia introduced herself to us and I asked how she heard about Apérochic; while she was looking for a venue to watch the world cup final between France and Croatia; Cabana Pool Bar came up and so did the Apérochic website. She proceeded to peruse the website and learned of the monthly social events held by Apérochic and decided to join to make new friends in the city, and perhaps get an opportunity to improve her conversational French. We welcome Mary to the group and had a great time getting to know each other

I met with Helene Le Person, Brand Director for Corby Spirit and Wine Limited. They were the ambassadors for Lillet Wines. It is a unique range of refreshingapéritifs with a smooth, fruity taste bornof authentic, traditional French wine and liqueur savoir-faire, made in Podensac, a small village to the south of Bordeaux, France.Lillet Blanc is a subtle blend of rigorously selected white wines (85%), natural fruit liqueurs handcrafted on site and quinquina, all aged in French oak casks. The main grape variety in Lillet Blanc is Sémillon, which gives it an ample, full-fleshed structure.
