Beaujolais Nouveau 2018 was celebrated at Sofia in Yorkville on November 21. A stunning location enriched with an art gallery, Taglialatella Galleries, where patrons could spend some time sipping wine while perusing the art. Some of the guests did just that, sipping on Apérochic partner’s wine George Duboeuf, Beaujolais Nouveau, enjoying the “Ambiance à la Française.”
George Duboeuf, the historic Beaujolais Nouveau Brand was the creator of this long lasting and joyful worldwide custom: every third Thursday of November, one minute after midnight, more than 60 million bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau are released every year. Tasting and celebrating this young red wine is a French tradition – and a genius marketing idea, that started after the Second World War and spread all around the world. Like this wine, the night is young, carefree and there is the promise of fun and a very special time in the air.
Although it was a very cold night, that didn’t stop the guests from arriving in droves to partake in this great event. The restaurant and bar was full with people conversing with friends old and new, in this, warm and inviting atmosphere at Sofia.
Music flowed in the background of the restaurant, and guests were marking the event by taking photos in memory of this exciting night. I met some people who were there for the first time at an Apérochic event and told me they were glad they came, having a super time. This Apérochic event was a wonderful start to the holiday season of cocktail parties galore.
This event was another huge success and sold out event. The next Apérochic event will be in the New year. We will celebrate the Galette des Rois, another amazing french tradition, at the Thompson Hotel on January 23, 2019.
Happy Holiday to all and have a wonderful New Year celebration.
Until we meet again, I remain yours.
